Dunedin Causeway closed after gunman spotted
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies are talking to a man caught carrying a gun into Honeymoon Island State Park. The armed man is still sitting inside his vehicle and appears to only be a danger to himself.
What a fiasco on Honeymoon Island. Sherrifs Department held more than 300 citizens on the island for more than 8 hours while they staged a media event for the news channels at 5PM. Wow I was impressed. The Sheriffs Dept. did not communicate with the Park officials or the hostages with any status information. As well no water, ice, or food. There were children and elderly being detained. Once the news hour was over the Keystone Cops got us off the island which could have been done 7 hours earlier. Ask the Sheriff how many tax dollars he spent on this production for his campaign reelection? Hell he had a helicopter overhead the entire time? Crazy. How embarrassing to be a Floridian. Beautiful island and park. Unfortunately it is located in Pinellas County with a Sheriff that made a complete fool of himself and the folks who work for him. How sad. None of the hostages were injured and the Sheriff was not able to call out the National Guard or an Army Reserve Unit. The good news. We are glad not to live in this county and surely we can find other alternatives to spend our leisure and money.
